Marksmanship is a year-long curriculum dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of long-rifle and pistol shooting skills. Students will begin with a basic understanding of the science and engineering behind how a firearm works. The curriculum will move to weapons safety and memorize the four rules of weapons handling. Each student will become proficient in disassembling their weapon, proper cleaning and preservation of a weapon, and progress to weapon firing positions and techniques. We will touch on the simple mathematics behind how to account for windage, distance, lead, and various other types of calculations to take into consideration when making the perfect shot! This class will be primarily a classroom environment with multiple offsite "range days". The cost of ammunition and weapon rental is extra, but the course price includes four trips to the range over the full class calendar. If your student has a rifle they would like to use, they may bring their own. If you student does not own a rifle, the instructor will provide a link to a rifle that will be suitable for the student to learn and manage (based on the size, strength, and capabilities of the students). As this is a first-year offering, the curriculum is under development and more information will be provided at TEACH open house. All other materials, outside of ammunition and the purchase of a rifle, will be provided by the instructor in the cost of the course.
