Core 1 is designed to foster a love of learning through engaging hands-on activities, small group collaboration, and foundational academic skills. This class is tailored for first graders and integrates essential subjects like language arts, math, science, and Bible into an exciting and interactive classroom experience.

Curriculum Highlights:

• Language Arts & Handwriting: Using The Good and The Beautiful curriculum, students will develop strong reading, writing, and grammar skills while practicing beautiful, age-appropriate handwriting techniques.

• Math: With Math with Confidence, students will build a solid understanding of early math concepts, including numbers, addition, subtraction, and basic problem-solving strategies, through games and hands-on practice. This math curriculum makes use of many manipulatives. There is an included list of needed materials in the Instructor Guide. All needed materials needed in class will be provided by the instructor, but you will need the necessary items to complete lessons at home. • Science/Bible: Masterbooks Adventures in Creation will guide students through engaging science lessons, introducing them to God’s creation with experiments, observations, and creative exploration. Each lesson will foster faith and character development as students explore scripture and God’s design in the world around them. Skills Beyond Academics:

In addition to subject-specific learning, students will gain valuable first-grade classroom skills, including:

• Developing listening and following directions in a group setting.

• Practicing teamwork and social interaction through small group activities and discussions.

• Building independence and confidence in completing tasks and sharing ideas.

• Strengthening fine motor skills through handwriting, crafts, and hands-on activities.
